Work in our Circle of Influence

As parents, we are naturally concerned about our children’s future.  We are concerned about money matters, their housing, their health and what they would do for meaningful engagement.

The difficulties and problems ahead are real, and no amount of worrying can make them go away.  But we have a choice: we can work in our Circle of Influence and do what we can by making plans in advance, or we can act in our Circle of Concern and worry about things we have no control over.

For example, we can work in our Circle of Influence to identify our child’s support network - people who love, care, and support our child - and prepare them for how they can help in times of emergencies.

Yes, We Can Shape the Future

Can we influence the future?  The answer is yes.  Yes, we can create the future we want if we plan and act on our plans.  But planning itself is not enough.  Executing the plan is just as important.

The Circle of Influence

Planning is Creating the Future

The purpose of your planning is to provide the best opportunity for your child to enjoy as many of the ten QoL components as possible.  However, circumstances may not allow every child to achieve all ten of the QoL components.  The important thing is that we do our best to provide those opportunities. Where we cannot do it ourselves, we can seek help from others where possible.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.
