Dear Parents and Caregivers,
In my years serving in the disability sector, the concern often raised by parents and caregivers has been, “What’s going to happen to my child when I am no longer around?”
This is why Autism Resource Centre (Singapore), with the support of Autism Network Singapore (ANS), has created the Life After Death (LAD) Playbook.
Grounded in the belief that every individual is worthy of a flourishing life, this is a resource to help families begin planning thoughtfully and hopefully for the future.
Designed to be simple, practical, and adaptable, the playbook guides caregivers through four key life areas: health, home, meaningful engagement, and finances.
It offers templates to help families start planning (remember, there’s no pressure to do everything at once!) and emphasises involving the individual on the spectrum in the process.
Most importantly, the journey toward ensuring that your child continues to thrive is not a solo one. We hope this playbook will also help create communities of support as you take your first step.
Together, we can create a future where each person on the spectrum continues to live a good quality of life, no matter the chapter of life they are in.
