WHO Definition of Health
While many people think being healthy means not suffering from any disease, the World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything
Health is more than Physical Well-Being
In a 2022 global survey of 19 countries, participants, when asked to define health, said their overall health was influenced by four factors: the physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being.
🏃♂️ Physical well-being is the ability to maintain a healthy quality of life, allowing us to get the most out of our daily activities without undue fatigue or physical stress.
🌿 Mental well-being is about feeling positive about ourselves and others, being able to form good relationships, and having the resilience to overcome challenges.
🗣️ Social well-being refers to the relationships we have and how we interact with others. It involves building healthy, nurturing, and supportive relationships as well as fostering a genuine connection with those around you.
🙏 Spiritual well-being comes from a sense of meaning, belonging, purpose and identity, not necessarily from one’s religious faith.
In other words, feeling healthy is not constrained to the absence or presence of any disease, but focusing on how to live a full and functional life on our terms.
Activity: Rate Your Child’s Health
Using the definition that health is a state of complete physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being, how do you rate your child’s health? What health-related habits does your child engage in? Which activities does he have to do more of?
